Lorraine Wafer Fab Technician Austin, TX |
Tell us about the team you work with and what you enjoy most about working with them.
They're my extended family. I spend more time here than with my own family. I trust my team members and we do things together outside of work as well. I trust their knowledge and experience and will solicit advice from them for anything..really!

| Major: | Industrial Technology (Manufacturing) | | 6:00 AM | Emails, do invoices, check tool statuses | | 9:00 AM | Go into the fab and work on recipes or fix tools | | Noon: | meetings or still work in the fab | | 1:00 PM: | Emails, powerpoint presentations | | 3:00 PM: | Figure out tomorrows agenda | | 5:00 PM | head to school | | 6:00 PM | school | | 8:00 PM | homework | | 10:00 PM | chores | | What attracted you to Spansion? | This was my first job out of high school 25 years ago. I have family working here and they told me about the job expectations, the need for eye-hand coordination and clean atmosphere. It was exciting being in the clean room for the first time | | What keeps you here? | The people, the pay and the freedom to be accountable for what I do. I don't have to be micro-managed to be successful and keep my customers happy. I want to do it! | | What do you like best about working at Spansion? | Besides the pay, the ability to go to school and have it paid for. The stuff I learn in college is being used everyday for production and operations management. Nothing beats hands on experience when learning new software or equipment. | | Describe an interesting project you are working on (or have worked on) at Spansion. | Backside inspection of fall-on particles from the different wafer vendors in the furnaces | | How does it feel to do your job? | Very satisfying when I make a customer happy...like when the monitors catch an excursion before they take out a whole bunch of wafers (also called in-line detection) | | What's the best thing about your manager's work style or your interaction with her/him? | He let's me do my job but will help me out when I'm stuck or don't know how to go about fixing certain things. He keeps pushing me to gain more knowledge and be a well-rounded person. We have off-site meetings so I can vent and then after awhile we figure out how to make things better. | | Share your thoughts about Spansion's corporate values (determination, initiative, integrity, and respect for people). | Initiative is the main one that comes to mind. We all want to make money so by taking the initiative to second source labor/parts, cut costs, get cross-trained and make better product is the key to our financial future and most are willing to make sacrifices to do that | | What makes you go to work each day? | To gain more knowledge...every day is a new challenge and I am determined to meet it and greet it when I get in (I also look forward to the people and making someone smile everyday) | | What advice do you have for people that are looking to work at Spansion? | You have to be a team player. You can develop your own ideas and think outside the box, but in this environment, it takes alot of people to make things work, so be prepared to have a lot of inputs and cause-and-effect stuff thrown at you as well. We work hard, but it's worth it! | | Do you have a favorite game? | Golf, if that's considered a game!?? | | What is your 'Claim to Fame'? | I make people smile and bring people together, I throw great parties :o) |
